We are beyond thrilled and forever grateful that our son, Max, has been sober for more than nine years along with our Shatterproof Event Co-Chair, Megan, who has been sober 36 years!
With your continued support of Shatterproof, more families will find the support and resources to navigate substance use disorder as we have, along with the Flanigans and Skakels. In 2021, there was a 15% increase in drug-related deaths – sadly, that is more than 107,000 loved ones lost.
After a two-year hiatus, we were looking forward to resuming our annual gala at Richards of Greenwich. However, due to an uptick in COVID cases, we decided it would be safest to cancel with the plan to resume next year. In lieu of an in-person event, we kindly ask that you consider giving with the same generosity you have provided in the past.
It is because of your past support that we have made great progress in advancing our mission:
- •ATLAS, a science-based platform that helps families and loved ones find, compare, and choose high-quality substance use disorder treatment facilities now cover more than 25% of the U.S. population.
- •In 2021 and 2022, 32 states passed opioid settlement legislation including California, Connecticut, Maryland, Nevada, and New York, where Shatterproof played a particularly influential role to ensure opioid settlement funds go toward substance use prevention, harm reduction, treatment, and recovery services.
- •Last year, Shatterproof piloted a digital campaign to measurably reduce the stigma of the public toward those with this disease and the medications that treat it. The pilot reached 3.8 million Pennsylvanians within the first 12 months, resulting in a 38% reduction in addiction stigma by those viewing the campaign.
